St. Joseph’s College Jakhama emerge as overall champions at the PCAN Sports & Literary Meet

The 1st PCAN All Nagaland Sports & Literary Meet came to an end with St. Joseph College Jakhama being crowned the overall champion and Tetso College bagging the runner’s up spot.. The event saw an amalgam of great players from 23 colleges all with different set of skills and talents, coming together to participate in the two day event.

The Closing Ceremony was chaired by Mr. Kvulo Lorin, Director of Tetso College, who congratulated all the participants for their efforts and participation in the event. Invocation was offered by Pastor Zhabu Nagi of Sovima Baptist Church, who thanked God for the success of such a great event.

Mr. P. Francis, Vice President of PCAN (Model Christian College), in his speech recited Matthew 17:4, “It is good that we are here.” This verse was an acclamation said by Peter at Mount Tabor, he said that the two day PCAN Meet was like the experience at Mount Tabor and that we could proudly exclaim, “It is good that we are here.” The motto of PCAN is ‘Learning, Sacrifice, Service” and indeed is keeping its motto by being ever ready to make sacrifice and serving the student community in Nagaland. It was with this commitment that the PCAN organised such a Meet. He said that Unity was  the need of the hour and that it is the most essential element of human existence. He quoted another Bible verse from Matthew 12:25 that “A house divided against itself cannot stand.” He said that Unity amongst all the college’s is vital for the progress of education and the student community, and in fact of society. He said that standing alone we cannot ensure anything and that if we cease to be divided, we can overcome any magnitude of issues and problems that face us. Progress, according to him would be far fetched if distinction or segregation exists. He encouraged everyone to move towards a common goal, and unity. He congratulated all winning colleges and also for their active participation and hoped that PCAN would continue organising such meets.

Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Sashi Aier, Treasurer of PCAN (Cornerstone College), who thanked all the members, executives, participating colleges, Judges and Referees and all participants for their active participation. He also expressed his gratitude towards all the contributors to the PCAN organisation. He thanked the people who worked behind the scenes, especially the sub- committee headed by Kvulo Lorin, Director Tetso College and his team. He wished all the Colleges the best and a safe journey to all who were to undertake the journey home.
