Inaugural PCAN 1st All Nagaland Inter-College Sports & Literary Meet Underway

The first All Nagaland Inter-College Sports and Literary Meet, organised by the Private College Association Nagaland (PCAN) is underway at Tetso College. A total of 23 colleges from across Nagaland will be participating in this two day meet on the 28th and 29th January 2020. The Inaugural Ceremony took place at 9:30 am at the Tetso College Amphitheatre, with Miss Temsutula Assistant Professor of Eastern College, Dimapur being the compere. She warmly welcomed all organisers, participants and guests to the Meet. she gave a brief introduction on the formation and organisation of PCAN.

Invocation was given by Pastor Gwanilo Khing of Rengma Church, 5th Mile, who prayed for the success of the program and all the participants that were going to play in different events. Mr. Joshua Achumi of Yemhi College, the Convenor of PCAN Sports Committee, gave the welcome address before which he thanked the Almighty God for blessing a beautiful day to organize such an event and apologized for not being able to bring any distinguished guest to grace the auspicious event. He extended a warm welcome to all the organisers, executive members and participants. Mr. Joshua thanked the students who were present at the event as he said that the students presence was very encouraging and that without the students the program would not have taken place. He also thanked the Dimapur leaders of PCAN for shouldering the responsibility of hosting the program and asked the leaders of other districts to be ready to take responsibility for the events that are to be held in future. He said that the main objective of the event was to bring all colleges under Nagaland to compete, to know, and to have a healthy relationship with each other to strengthen ties and brotherhood among themselves. Mr. Joshua asked the students to widen their horizons by making new friends and learning from them and the various events. He hoped that this event would be a successful one and that it would have a bright future. In conclusion, he wished all the participants the best for the events.
Welcome Song was performed by students of St. John College followed by a beautiful rendition of Folk Fusion performed by Mount Mary College. Dr. P.S, Lorin, President of PCAN gave the presidential address in which he said that he was extremely happy to have this mega event at Tetso College. In spite of having many different organisations in Nagaland, the PCAN wanted to organize such an event to prove that Nagaland is also capable of achieving so much. PCAN aims at contributing to provide quality education, to enhance the educational system in Nagaland and to take all educational institutions to a higher level, and to direct Nagaland into becoming an Educational Hub. He encouraged the Management, Teachers and Students to work hand-in-hand to bring all the Colleges of Nagaland together.

The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Er. Moa Aier of C-edge College who thanked everyone especially the esteemed guests who were present for the programs and also the organisers for the successful organization of the program. The inaugural ceremony ended with the kick off of the Badminton Exhibition Match between the Management and Veterans. All sports events were played simultaneously.
