When Hope Wins – Limeka Yepthomi

Literature Bits

The town is quiet and deserted
the breeze is blowing lightly and so flirting
with my dress.
I stand
with a sense of fear that tumbles and pierces down my shoulder.
This irony!
I despise solitude and quietness which were once
my friends
Now I want to trust them who pollute the sky
and sing with them
in English and Hindi,
or maybe sometimes in Sema.
But for now,
I need to do my laundry,
learn to cook
and sew a button.
Maybe then, someday
we can sing together “Spring is here”.
