The Lockdown – twenty one blissful days | Sneha Gupta

Why did the sun seem more beautiful today?
Or was it that I saw thee only after my school days!
Oh my immortal friend which long forgotten,in the light of day,
Away from you provided me,many mortal friends in my Instagram days.

Again after counting the number of twenty one days
Thousand of movements in the bed, with frustration of the first day of lockdown’s twenty one days,
I slept again, releasing the frustration with the happiness that the end of today
Lessens the burden of one day,out of twenty one days

Early morning I woke up the next day;
Today not with the daily alarm of my phone and the noise from vehicles of working days,
The sweet and gentle song of the tiny sparrows woke me up today.
It seems like there is an aura of happiness and freedom in their songs.

I wonder what makes them so happy today!
Is it because humans are under lockdown these days?
Are they free of the worry of being hunted and served hot in someone’s plate like each day?
Or is it that you never dared to come out of your home before the lockdown days?

Again I slept a little early, with a little frustration and a little happiness that gone are two of twenty one days
Today I wanted to be again driven out of my bed like the sparrows call of yesterday’s
Likewise the happy songs of the sparrows continued to wake me up everyday
The frustration which I had twenty one days ago melted each passing day,
Like the melting of the marshmallow which we enjoyed eating during school days.

My heart today seemed a little gloomy with the thought that today is lockdown’s last day
I shall be back again into the same old mortal world’s routined working days,
Leaving behind the small world of neighbors, family and nature discovered in lockdown’s twenty one day
But the call of the birds again drew me close to the simple nature’s life, I started enjoying during lockdown everyday
I slept in peace questioning if I will be woken up by the sparrow’s song after the lockdown is over.
