COVID-19 is Impacting the Rural Areas and Churches in Nagaland

As the novel coronavirus took the world by storm, and still showing no sign of an end, the pandemic has been really hard on people from all walks of life. And while the virus is having a disastrous impact on big cities and urban areas, it has finally reached this small state of Nagaland in the northeast of India. 

The lifestyle of the villagers from the hills has been drastically changed by the pandemic. The inhabitants of these villages had to adapt to the change in their everyday lives regardless of their age. And this has been really hard for the older folks because their mental health is at stake. At such an age, some even think that the community has excluded them in any activities because of their age.

As of now, the rules and regulations have been made such that only 30% of the people are allowed to attend the church services. The youth volunteer in taking care of the mass at church. They also make schedules for the services according to different age groups. They make sure that church goers wear masks and their hands sanitized before they enter the church.
