Hosts Tetso College emerged winners while St. Joseph’s College Jakhama clinched the runners-up title during the 5th CoMFIESTA, an inter-institutional Commerce & Management Fest, organized by the Department of Commerce & Management, Tetso College, which culminated on 12th November 2020.
The two-day event, which is held annually to promote the true spirit of the subject and to test the mental and artistic ability of students from all over the country, saw a total participation of over 250 students from 15 educational institutions namely Unity College, Delhi Public School, Dimapur Government College, S.D. Jain Girl’s College, St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous) Jakhama, C-Edge College, Eastern Christian College, Christian Hr Sec. School, Pranab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School, City College, Public College of Commerce, Pranabananda Women’s College, Lumding College (Assam), Vel Tech (Chennai), and Tetso College.
Based on the tagline ‘Where Talent Meets,’ CoMFIESTA ’20 witnessed a variety of performers and participants coming together to compete in events such as I Can Speak, Contrakeenos, Vid’Gyapan, CoMFIESTA’s Got Talent, Food Crafting and Selfiestan.
The inaugural programme was chaired by Neelam Nagar, B. Com 5th Semester, Tetso College and invocation pronounced by Eunice Khing, Alumni, Tetso College. Amar Ranjan Dey, HOD Commerce and Management, Tetso College welcomed the participants which was followed by a special song by R. Wangsheng Sankhil, BBA 3rd Semester Tetso College. Ramyile Newme of B. Com 3rd Semester, Tetso College pronounced the benediction.
In his keynote address, Kvulo Lorin, Director of Tetso College, welcomed all the participating institutions to the fest and commended the Department of Commerce & Management, Tetso College for organizing such a unique event especially during a time when the world is still gripped in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Quoting T. Harv Eker, Kvulo urged the young students to take up new challenges saying “if you are willing to do only what’s easy, life will be hard. But if you are willing to do what’s hard, life will be easy.” He also advised the participants to do away with procrastination and not to bow to peer pressure by blindly following what everyone else is doing. Instead, the Director challenged the students in attendance to dare to be different and not to worry about living up to society’s expectations.
In the events category,
Rajdeep Saha and Surathong Y (Tetso College) were the winners of Contrakeenos while Naman Kumar Jain and Twinkle Aggarwal (Delhi Public School) bagged second.
In Food Crafting, Tongpangkokba (St. Joseph’s College Jakhama) was declared the winner while Lumthuiliu (Tetso College) stood second.
In CoMFIESTA’s Got Talent, Sriti Dey and Nandini Dey (SD Jain Girls’ College) were the winners while the runner-up was Ujala Dey (Pranabananda Women’s College).
In Selfiestan, Rongseninla Jamir (Tetso College) stood first while Thejasenuo Yosa (St. Joseph’s College Jakhama) stood second.
In I Can Speak, Ankita Bhadra (Lumding College) was adjudged the winner while Pututoshi (Unity College) bagged the second position.
In Vid’Gyapan, St. Joseph’s College Jakhama were the winners while Tetso College were the runners-up.
Meanwhile, the closing ceremony was chaired by Amentoly M. Kiba Swu, BBA 5th Semester, Tetso College followed by words of encouragement by Dr. Hewasa, Vice-Principal, Tetso College towards the students for participation. The vote of thanks was delivered by Payal Dutta, Asst. Professor, Department of Commerce & Management.
